Conversations: Two People — Listening A2
When you listen to a dialogue between two people, identify the subject of the question before the audio starts. You will hear conversations in daily situations: a couple at home, a customer in a shop, or a citizen at the gemeente. DUO tests whether you can track who wants what.
A common trap is hearing a sensible idea and choosing it as your answer without realising it was suggested by the wrong person. If the question asks Wat wil de man doen?, ignore the woman's preferences completely. The test makers will put her suggestion into the answer options as a distractor.
Another frequent pattern is the changed mind. The speakers disagree at first, one of them makes a counter-suggestion, and then they agree on a final plan. The first idea on the table is rarely the answer.
Pay attention to signal phrases that show agreement, such as Goed idee or Dat doen we. When you hear one of these, the speaker who answers it is locking in the final plan for both people.
