The Verklaring van verbondenheid (Declaration of Solidarity) is a short declaration you say out loud, in Dutch, at your naturalisation ceremony. In it you promise to respect the constitutional order of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, its freedoms and rights, and to fulfil the obligations that come with Dutch citizenship. Everyone aged 16 or over who becomes Dutch has to make it.
Yes. There is a religious version that begins “Ik zweer…” and ends with “Zo waarlijk helpe mij God almachtig”, and a non-religious version that begins “Ik verklaar…” and ends with “Dat verklaar en beloof ik”. You choose which one you use — this tool lets you practise either.
