The official Facet practice environment
CvTE, which makes the exam, runs a free practice environment at oefenexamensnt2.nl. It uses Facet, the same exam player as the real Staatsexamen NT2. That is why many learners search for it as "Facet NT2" or "NT2 oefenomgeving Facet".
The environment has three sections:
- Opdrachten oefenen: loose Spreken and Schrijven tasks
- Examens oefenen: complete exams in the real player
- Examens downloaden: exam files, answer keys, scoring models and audio
CvTE writes: "De losse opdrachten van de oefenomgeving kunnen in de echte examens Spreken en Schrijven staan." (The loose tasks from the practice environment can appear in the real Speaking and Writing exams.) The real exams also contain other tasks, so do not learn answers by heart.
Use a computer or laptop. CvTE says you cannot practise properly on a phone or tablet.
Published past exams from CvTE
For each part of Programma I (B1) and Programma II (B2), CvTE publishes three complete past exams: 2023, 2024 and 2025. With each one you get the answer key or beoordelingsmodel (scoring model) and the score conversion table.
That makes each paper a real staatsexamen NT2 oefenexamen, not just extra exercises. It shows the format of each part:
| Part (Programma I) | Format | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Lezen | 35 multiple-choice questions about 6 texts | 110 minutes |
| Luisteren | 38 or 39 multiple-choice questions | 90 minutes |
| Schrijven | 12 writing tasks, typed | 100 minutes |
| Spreken | 16 speaking tasks, recorded | 35 minutes |
The conversion table matters because there is no fixed raw pass mark. You pass each part with a scaled score of 500. In 2025 that took 24 of 35 points for Lezen and 26 of 39 for Luisteren. Our guide to the Staatsexamen NT2 cesuur lists all four parts.
CvTE also publishes an instruction film for each part on staatsexamensnt2.nl.
What the official material does not give you
The official papers show the real level and the real wording. But they have limits:
- There are only three full exams per part, so you can run out quickly.
- Nobody marks your Schrijven or Spreken answers. You get the scoring model, but you have to judge yourself.
- The live exam is confidential, so you cannot see your own answers after the exam.
Your regular practice (NT2 staatsexamen oefenen) has to fill that gap. You need many more tasks than three papers, and you need feedback on your writing and speaking.
How to use the official practice exams
Treat the official papers as checkpoints, not as daily practice:
- Start in the Facet player, so the screen is not new on exam day.
- Take one full exam per part early, with a timer, to find your level.
- Practise the weak skill for a few weeks with other material.
- Take the next official exam to measure your progress.
- Keep the last exam for the final weeks before your exam date.
For Lezen and Luisteren, check your answers with the key and count your raw score. For Schrijven and Spreken, compare your answer with each point in the scoring model. It is hard to judge your own Dutch, so ask a teacher if you can.
Our B1 exam simulator gives you full timed papers in a similar format, with feedback on writing and speaking. That way you save the official papers for the moments that count.
Registration and the exam day
The practice environment is for practice only. You register for the real exam through DUO's Staatsexamen NT2 pages. Our guide on registering for Staatsexamen NT2 explains dates, cost and what to bring.
