Staatsexamen NT2 kosten per part
Each part of the Staatsexamen NT2 costs €50. A complete exam of four parts costs €200. This NT2 exam fee is the same for Programma I (B1) and Programma II (B2). The four parts are:
- Lezen (reading)
- Luisteren (listening)
- Schrijven (writing)
- Spreken (speaking)
If you are searching for the NT2 examen kosten, that is the number to remember: €50 per part, €200 for a complete exam.
CvTE makes the exam, but DUO handles registration, payment and results. You pay per part, so you can book one part, two parts or all four. The official fee is on DUO's Staatsexamen NT2 pages.
How you pay DUO
You register and pay for the DUO NT2 exam in Mijn DUO. There are two ways to pay:
- by iDEAL, straight away when you register;
- by invoice, sent by e-mail or by e-mail and post.
Paying from abroad often costs more and can take a few weeks. If DUO receives the money too late, you cannot take the exam. The full booking process is in our guide to Staatsexamen NT2 aanmelden.
Paying with a DUO loan or a free attempt
If you must do inburgering, Mijn DUO shows during registration whether you have a free exam or can pay from a DUO loan. This happens automatically.
What applies depends on your situation:
- Asylum status holders under the Wet inburgering 2021 get the first 2 attempts at each exam free. This does not apply to an exam below the level in your PIP. Extra attempts you pay yourself, and you cannot borrow from DUO.
- Other inburgeringsplichtigen, such as family migrants, pay themselves or borrow from DUO. You can borrow for a course at an approved school and for your exam fees. Read more in our guide to the DUO inburgering loan.
- Candidates without an inburgering duty pay the fee themselves. If you integrate voluntarily (vrijwillig inburgeren), you can borrow from DUO up to 3 years after registering with the gemeente.
Check your own case on inburgeren.nl.
How this compares with the A2 inburgeringsexamen
The price is the same: the A2 inburgeringsexamen also costs €50 per part. Inburgeringsexamen kosten explains the A2 costs.
The exams themselves are different. Staatsexamen NT2 Programma I is a B1 exam with its own format, held on fixed dates in six cities.
Passing it covers the language part of your inburgering duty. On the B1 route you still take KNM (Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij), which costs another €50. The MAP and the PVT under the 2021 law are free.
What the whole B1 route can cost
The fee only depends on how many parts you take. Three examples:
- All four parts in one go: 4 × €50 = €200.
- All four parts plus KNM on the B1 route: €200 + €50 = €250.
- All four parts, then one resit of a part you failed: €200 + €50 = €250.
Each extra resit adds €50 for that part. These totals leave out any preparation course, travel to the exam city and the extra cost of taking an exam abroad.
Cancelling, resits and other costs
If you cancel up to 4 weeks before the exam, you get your money back. If you cancel later, you still pay.
A resit costs the same as a first attempt: €50 for that part. You take each part separately, so if you pass three parts and fail one, you only pay again for the one you failed.
Plan the resit with the result date in mind. Results appear in Mijn DUO after about 5 weeks. You cannot book a part again while you are still waiting for its result.
Before you pay for another attempt, practise in the official Facet practice environment. It uses the same exam player as the real exam.
